The non-diegetic bass at the start of the film
Does anyone else find it incisive, haunting, coolly transfixing, and fiercely stilling? I viewed Unlawful Entry on Thanksgiving night four years ago, and I still find that spare, brief, electric bass line at the beginning (before anything else kicks in) to be unforgettable in its ability to grip the viewer, perhaps the most memorable that I've heard in film.
If only a classic bass line could make for a classic thriller.
