He just seemed really whiney and bitchy to me. Not saying he deserved it but you have to admit if you were his dad you might have popped him one (or two).

Okay so maybe he was a bit of a whiner. That doesn't mean he deserved to be beat up by the King. I mean there are better ways to toughen up a kid that beating him so bad he has to go to the hospital.

Wow....ummmm, he was just a kid, and "toughening kids (boys) up" is part of the reason kids are abused!

He was a little boy who got beat by a man. ANYONE in his predicament would whine. Child abuse is no joking matter...happens everday...some kids don't make it. Everyone going along with this user's opinion should grow up and rethink it.

With some kids, that sort of abuse can reinforce that sort of fearfulness and timidity. He was like, 5??
