Ivy lives in the original script. Katt Shea said that New Line wanted Drew Barrymore to die at the end so they went back and shot that ending. Originally Ivy got away and when hitch-hiking. Would have likes to have seen that but I do like the ending they picked.

shareIt's funny. I usually hate when studios kill the "vilain" at the end of the movie for the sake of morality but, in this case, I think it's somehow more poignant that Ivy dies. Am I the only one?

That could have only been based on IF Drew Barrymore agreed to return as Ivy, otherwise the films would still be as they were or they could have done what the "Stepfather" movies did and recast the Ivy character with another actress each film
