The last thing I would have been thinking about was burying his dumb ass in the cemetery to bring him back to life. To this day I still don't understand why they did that.
Because he was the SHERIFF. People would notice him missing and it would look odd when all the kids at the party mentioned that was the last time he was saw. With Jeff and Drew being the last ones there it'd be kinda obvious.

shareSheriff means he is a pretty high ranking cop. In small towns like that, the sheriff is considered as high if not higher than mayor. The boys probably would have gotten into some serious crap for using the burial ground for Zowey. Plus Drew's mom would have most likely been upset, since SHE did marry him.

You're joking, right? No one knew about the burial ground and those that did just thought it was some stupid ghost story. You really think that because the dog killed the sheriff the authorities would have come to the conclusion it was because of two boys who brought their pet back from the dead?
And as for the kid's mom, Gus was an abusive psychopath. Upsetting her with news of his death was the last thing on their minds.
Burying him in the cemetery made no sense and was a poor way just to move forward with the plot to the movie.

Seriously, the kids should have been happy when Zowie killed him. Bringing him back was just stupid. Drew's mom wasn't being a very good mother allowing Gus to treat her son the way he did. Gus wasn't even Drew's real father; he had no right mistreating them the way he did - he killed Zowie for no reason other than maybe upsetting the rabbits? What a douche! Drew should have used that shotgun on Gus! For him to come into the Pet Sematary and start beating on Drew because his mom (his actual parent!) let him go out on Halloween was just bulls***. I'm surprised Drew didn't run away or try to get some help, what with an abusive a**hole stepfather like that.

I enjoyed how unlike the first movie it focused on a family with an abusive father. Gus was a really interesting character.
