What kind of magic plane is this????

What kind of crappy ancient plane was this?

It looks like an old school boeing 727, but those were not wide body (twin aisle) jets with extensive basements, elevators, etc.

Were the interiors of the plane meant to be in a truly huge 747 (which IS a wide body jumbo jet with elevators and multiple interior levels) and the exteriors had to go cheap with an ancient 727, which is a small jetliner, essentially a greyhound bus with wings????

According to the Trivia Section - The type of aircraft used in the hijacking is an L1011-500 "Tristar". Hope that helps to end your confusion!

To be or not to be. That's not really a question.

the exterior looks nothing like a 727, apart from the three engines. with a Tristar (the one in this film), the engines are on the wings with one in the tail fin, and with a 727 all three are on the tail section. And there weren't multiple levels, the downstairs was just for access to the cargo hold. All medium or large airliners have this. Also, the elevator is just for the food carts.
