Good point...and besides, do you think he would have hidden it for all those years from all of the other Ganji players he had like Hammer? That would have been an idiotic thing to do when needing to communicate with them.

I think Jack is the first player he uses English with as a manager.
He said he's the "Japanese Manager of a Japanese baseball team that you (Jack) agreed to play for; it is your (Jack's) duty to learn my ways- not the other way around."
Also, Hammer said (when he saw Uchiyama yelling encouragement at Jack running stairs), "I'll be damned. He speaks English." To which Yoji (the translator) replied, *beep* in disbelief.
I don't think he's EVER used English as manager of the Dragons up to that point.
No, that only showed that he could understand at least some simple words, which isn't unusual in Japan. "For the next time" is not a complicated sentence. Just because he could understand that didn't mean he could understand the language as a whole.
