One of the more underrated sports movies.

Personally, it is the best baseball-related movie I've ever seen. Probably Tom Selleck's best overall performance. It's Gung Ho meets Major League.

I would not overstate it, but it was a decent flick.

I would say Major League was better, but not by allot. This movie was great however.

I"ve really got to get this one on DVD. I watch it whenever it comes on TV.

I love this film. It is a lot funnier though if you are at least passingly familiar with Japanese language and customs. It always cracks me up when he drops right into the bath in the locker room and you hear one of his teammates very nervously blurting out "Ch..chotto mate!" (Wait a minute).

The noodle scene with the grandparents is also much funnier though they did a good job of translating the etiquette mistake here.

Just found Mr. Baseball at Wal Mart in the $8.68 section (ours uses price bins) Good Luck.

Some people think they have something to say...other people think they have to say something.

his 1st press conference is funny too.

There are several good baseball movies (Kostner's Bull Durham, For the Love of the Game and Field of Dreams to name a few), but this is one of my favorites when it comes to light comedy with a good message. Not sure how the Japanese might view it's portrayal of their culture, but it seemed to put it in a favorable light as Jack is involuntarily forced into it.

my god its full of stars

I saw this movie for the first time today, and sat through the whole thing. I liked it as much as Major League. Another Selleck movie I liked was High Road to China. These are the kind of movies I like on a day when there is nothing going on and you are channel surfing an happen upon them.

I think this movie is adorable and I can't picture anyone else doing it but TS. I loved it when his agent comes out to talk to him in the beginning and he says "What?" in that annoyed tone. Also, how the managers are chewing and spitting is so priceless. They do it in all the famous baseball movies of the last 25 years. So are baseball players that crass?? Guess so. It's a man's game...

I also love all the Kevin movies but this one is right up there with those and Major League 1 and 2. I guess Costner now knows his niche, Baseball and Westerns.
Mr. Baseball came on today and I taped it on my dvr. What is Selleck up to now besides Boston Legal?

I wouldn't go that far, eevn though it's one of my favorites.

Major League, Bull Durham, in terms of baseball-related and I'll add comedies are far better.

Major League and Mr. Baseball both have Dennis Haysbert in them. Dennis Haysbert + baseball = good movie.

"Son-of-a-bitch must pay!!"

I wouldn't say Mr.Baseball is my favorite baseball movie but I agree it derserved more credit

reply

This is definitely my favorite baseball movie. Selleck & Haysbert together are a great combination.
