Would have been great without the the narration.

This is just another one of those cases where a film is brought down by unnecessary voice over. While I was watching it, I didn't find one instance where I thought it was needed. Overall I still think that it is a very underrated film, but I'm a bit biased because Carpenter is my favorite director.

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum.

I actually like the narration. Adds an older type of feel to the movie and is no where near as awful as Blade Runner's. Plus it goes with him talking to Jenkins so we are seeing what he is describing in the video.

I'm so good I don't need a signature.

The narration is very neccesary in my case. It adds the isolation criteria that is needed for the film to make its point. We need to understand what's going on in the mind of an invisible man. Great film.

I agree without the narration we wouldn't know what he was thinking or feeling. Only some movies need a good narration and this is one of them. I agree it gives the movie something extra.

It also serves to present us with a vague timetable. If you watch the movie and don't pay attention to the narration, its VERY choppy. Each scene lasts roughly two minutes. By having the main character break these up with reflection, it makes the film seem more like an actual memoir, instead of a collection of scenes.

The narration helps understand what one is thinking when invisible,,its a must
