This Is Good. Not Bad!

I'm sick of everyone always saying this is Carpenter's worst film. I actually think it's one of his better films. Ghosts of Mars, Vampires, and Escape from L.A. are his worst films. But not this. Carpenter has stated that he was extremely embarassed about this when it came out. But upon later review, he grew to like it. I think this was a fantastic movie and a big step for Chevy Chase.

I agree that Carpenter's worst film is Ghosts of Mars. Escape from L.A. isn't good either. Vamires is mediocre. Everything before these films still had the classic Carpenter vision. Most people don't like Memoirs, but I think it's a great film.

Yes I thought this was an OK film and his problem as a director is storylining the violence and deaths among characters; he over does it and makes it come across as juvenile directing.

No, I'm laughing with you not at{against} you!

He "broke" with Ghosts of Mars. Everything before that pile of wasted film is brilliant at best and flawed at worst. This is fun but flawed movie. He did a good job and it's the anticlimactic third act that drags the movie down.
