...of what happens when you deviate too far from a novel. The book on which it's based is a great--and, more importantly, is neither a comedy nor a love story. It's a tragic story of isolation. They screwed up majorly when they filmed this.

Sorry to spell it out to you, but the movie was tragic. It shows Nick never finding a cure to his state and he has to live with it for the rest of his life. The book is great, but I think this movie is great, too. They took a completely different approach at the theme and did a very good job. Who is to say that a particular story can be presented in only one way? This movie was three in one: drama, comedy and a love story.

Its not tragic. He ends up with Darryl Hannah in the end. How is that tragic?

Sorry to repeat myself. If he became visible in the end, that would be a happy ending. This way, it is quite bitter. He is stuck being invisible for who knows how long, maybe for the rest of his life.
