I can't believe it! This movie deserves a much better rating. I must confess that i'm a lover of this film. I'm absolutely convinced that it´s John Carpenter's best movie. And Chevy Chase's too, no doubt! It's funny, exciting, reflexive, and with a very good FX. It have everything! Expounds a lot of interesting questions about human being and its identity, and also quotidian questions, everything with a witty and methaforic SciFi point of view. Incomprehensibly underrated movie.

I agree. I don´t think it´s Carpenter at his best, that price would go to " The thing " but it is both funny and exciting. Underrated, YES.

I agree also! I think this is one fantastic movie! It has a little bit of everything: suspense, laughs, amazing special effects, an interesting quirky lead (Chase was great in this role), A sexy heroine (Daryl Hannah is at her most beautiful in this movie), a bad guy you love to hate (Sam Neil) and a teriffic plot. John Carpenter is one of the best directors in the history of cinema and Chevy Chase is a great character actor. This is a really amazing movie and I'm really not sure why it wasn't a bigger hit at the box office. What the heck was going on in '92 when this came out? This is definitely an underrated movie!! I'm thrilled that it's out on DVD now. A Carpenter commentary would have been awesome...but atleast we get to see a few extended scenes and a small featurette. Hopefully one day it will get the super "Special Edition" that it truly deserves.

I agree, i bet the Bush Legislation is currently voting all Chase's films 1 point on IMDB.

It was amazing and I love it.

I agree completely. I give the film 3 1/2 stars out of four. My only problem is that it was a bit anti-climactic.
I do agree that it is Chase's best performance.
I missed Carpenter's self score though.

Yes I agree just saw it on BBC1 and I was really impressed, it was so mutch better than hollow man in every way. Then I saw the rating and it was almost the same as HM which is a shame. People need to see this movie because it needs votes and good ones!

I gave this movie a 6. I definitely would have given it a higher rating were it not for the poor ending. I bet a lot of people feel the same. Still think it's a nice little movie mind.

The movie got mixed reviews and did not do great box office hence the low IMDB rating.

I just watched this and felt exactly the same ang gave the same rating. Would have given a 7 if not for the ending.

I gave it a 6 and feel that was a pretty generous rating. The movie's concept falls pretty flat and is extremely predictable and full of inconsistencies. On the upside, both Chase and Hannah give excellent performances and coupled with the top-notch special effects make for an entertaining and somewhat mindless hour and a half.

As a big fan of Carpenter's (Starman is one of my favorites, amongst Halloween and The Thing) I found the film to be a bit of a letdown and the beginning of his decline.
