Another Academy Award mugging
How Denzel Washington did not take the Oscar for this role is mind boggling. This is why I never give much credence to the Academy. It seems to be too political and back scratching and no real effort in actually choosing who was the actual best that year. It seems to be how the tide is turning, what movement is in style, who needs Hollywood favors, etc. Of course, then they give Washington the award for Training Day. A mediocre film with a role needing less range and having him play a typical thug. The Oscars are garbage.
