Multiple Lorenzo's?

Just curious if anyone here can clear up the multiple Lorenzo's listed in the film's credits.

Noah Banks .... Lorenzo Michael Murphy Odone
Elizabeth Daily .... Lorenzo Michael Murphy Odone (as E.G. Daily)
Michael Haider .... Lorenzo Michael Murphy Odone
Billy Amman .... Lorenzo Michael Murphy Odone
Cristin Woodworth .... Lorenzo Michael Murphy Odone
Zack O'Malley Greenburg .... Lorenzo Michael Murphy Odone

There was the boy who played Lorenzo for the majority of the film when he was 5-7 years old, then the older boy who played Lorenzo around the age of 14. I also realize that Elizabeth Daily was doing Lorenzo's voice when he was degenerating and not able to speak properly anymore (Did anyone else find it odd when Lorenzo suddenly started to sound like Tommy Pickles from the Rugrats?), but who were the other three Lorenzo's?

I'm curious because I thought that the boy who played the younger Lorenzo did a wonderful job in the role. But apparently none of the Lorenzo's listed, except for Elizabeth Daily, did any films other than Lorenzo's Oil.

I don't know why Elizabeth Daily wasn't credited as voice seeing as she apparently only did dubbing. I know Zack O'Malley Greenburg was the age 5-7 Lorenzo, I thought he was excellent. Weirdly, his father wrote the Zack Files about him. As for the teenage ones and all the others, I have no idea about any of them. It could be some did stunts but that wasn't recorded properly. Also, when he was about age 5-7 he looked very different from when he was sick and when he was well - at one point I thought there could be different actors, but then assumed it was make-up. I think as well as the young and teenage Lorenzos, there were a couple of shots of him lying on his bed when he couldn't move, just short ones, played by some of the other ones (although I don't think that accounts for three, maybe two!) In any case, I would like to find out too.

it was zack when lorenzo was sick and when he was not sick as well.

Wow, they changed his appearance a lot then. I guess that's what they do in movies. Silly me. He was pretty good though, and adorably cute in the beginning!

Why didn't they credit Zack O'Malley Greenburg for this movie? And has he done any other movies since?

reply

He was credited and apparently has done no other acting.

I just found this: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,305448,00.html

He quit acting but he is now a reporter, he even recently interviewed Justin Bieber for Forbes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9mSqME_slU

He also recently wrote a biography on Jay-Z entitled Empire State of Mind: How Jay-Z Went From Street Corner to Corner Office.

I haven't finished watching this movie yet (we're watching it in my science class), but I kept thinking, "Man, this boy's a good actor" and when there was the strange baby sounds "Good god, it sounds like he's one of the Rugrats!" When I came on here today to see who played him, I discovered why he sounded like a Rugrat.

Michael Haider played Lorenzo when he is walking for the doctors. Michael was a little boy with Cerebral Palsy, or a disease like it, who actually walked for the first time while filming that scene. I read about it in the December 1992 Premier magazine.

reply

Ah that's interesting. I knew they looked different!

I'm substitute teaching a class as we speak, and we're watching it. I heard the Tommy Pickles thing too, and almost started to laugh, but couldn't because of the "situation" he was in and it would make me look kind of bad. So I just wanted to look up the actor, I ran across this thread, and voila! I just told the class and they all cracked up haha.
