Was Darryl's death kinda Rigg's fault?

Seeing the gang of guys dealing drugs, no one was being beaten or killed yet he storms in with a gun ALONE and didn't call for major cop backup, Darryl may have lived.

I see what you're saying but no, its not Riggs's fault, theres nothing wrong with a cop spoiling a scene where a gang is dealing with guns and drugs.

Its Darryl's fault, he shot at Riggs and Murtaugh because he refused to surrender. If Darryl had cooperated, he would've lived.

Seriously?!

It's typical edgy Riggs behavior. Yes, it was irresponsible going in without evening talking to Murtaugh. How do you expect aggressive young gang criminals to respond? I'm not saying the gangbangers were in the right, or that Riggs is responsible for Daryl's or anyone else's choices, but you have a good point in that Riggs didn't act responsibly. He never was a "safety first" kind of guy.

It's Darryl's fault and he deserved what he got

Oh, well in that case everything's fine, and Riggs should've just let them be.

it was fast eddie's fault. if he had actually been fast & got riggs his burger, he wouldn't have been in a mood to arrest anyone.

No. Riggs was just doing his job. But of course he should have called Roger for backup. But other than that it was Darryl's fault. If he had just surrendered he would not have gotten killed. Remember when Nick said I don't blame you dad. I blame Darryl. He was right.

Darryl's death was no one's fault but his own. He chose to point that fully automatic weapon and fire it at police officers. I agree, Riggs was just doing his job as a police officer, who saw suspicious activity and therefore investigates. Yes, it would have been wiser for Riggs to not approach without backup. But then, Riggs is never a safety-first type. One can't say Darryl's death is anyone else's fault except his own. He was firing at Murtaugh and Riggs first. Murtaugh offered him an opportunity to drop the weapon and surrender. But he wouldn't, he just kept firing. And so Murtaugh was forced to shoot and kill him...absolutely justified.

That's exactly what I was saying. I agree that Riggs is not the guy who puts safety first, but it was still not his fault. He was just doing his job. It was no one's fault but Darryl's. Had he surrendered he would have lived. And Roger falling into depression over something that wasn't his fault, was plain nonsense. That was the main downside of the movie.
