Somebody lead Daryl to a gang; he didn't have to join it. Somebody gave Daryl a gun; he didn't have to fire it, then he wouldn't have been justifiably killed by a cop. Considering Nick's folks managed to keep him out of trouble I think Daryl's mother has some cheek blaming Roger when to find the person responsible all she needs to do is look in the mirror.
Alleviating or misdirecting responsibility is what allows bad people to prosper.
