Wow

6.5? I think that should be an 8.5. This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Such wonderful writing and acting. So many beautiful moments of honesty and truth. When it ended I said out loud, "Wow." Just one of those magical things that makes life so great.

Is it really that good? Glad to hear you loved it. This is the one Ed Zwick film that I have not seen. I love his stuff but this film is hard to track down now.

Wow, indeed. I could not agree more with this. I actually give it a 10. There's really nothing significantly wrong with the film; I caught part of it on TV once and was so impressed that after a while of not being able to see it any other way, I just ordered an old VHS copy, about 90% certain that it'd be worth owning. I was surely right about that.

Yeah this movie is definately underrated. Hell, I was being hassled by family members just for viewing it which makes me love it more. And the title is so ambiguous at first I thought Darly and Marianne were leaving their normal lives by embarking on an adventure not realizing that they were leaving the town normal too.

Just watched this for the first one after all these years after viewing the poster and trailer hundreds of times. Thoght I'd have to wait to get the DVD to see it but someone has posted the whole movie on YouTube. I loved it from the beginning. I can kind of see how people compared it to Thelma and Louise and I like that movie too but I could watch this over an over. Way different. Awesome.

It came out the same year as Gas Food Lodging, another great splice-of-life film.
I’m glad I finally saw Leaving Normal., what a great character film. Meg Tilly is wonderful, and so Christine Lahti.
I also recommend Ruby in Paradise, You Can Count on Me, Maborosi, Spitfire Grill, journey of Natty Gann, The Straight Story.
