She made parole in July 2011. She had been incarcerated since 1988.

What about the other one that was involved in the murder? I forgot her real name, but the character portrayed as Carla?

I think she may still be incarcerated. Not sure. The book leads one to believe that while it was Ellen/Karen's plan and she played a role, it may have been Laura/Carla who did the most damage.
