Why did she try and get close to the mother?

I can see she wanted to take the place of the girl she killed but why?

If it was just to play with the mother's head, that was a pretty sick thing to do.

Albi began to cry dragon tears, which as we all know turn into jellybeans.

You answered the question yourself, she was so bitter and resentful of her because she wanted to be her so she wanted her mom to become her mom too.If you havent read the book you should, it has a lot more content than the movie.

"Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble."

I read the book. In a lot of ways, it is very different from the movie. Also, I ended up skipping a lot of pages, it goes into a lot of needless detail (I really did not care about the life story of the detective).

I didn't see that when it aired on TV.

No, she does not seem sorry at all. I think she even enjoyed being in the spotlight. Dry crying doesn't impress me at all.

That and she wanted to keep tabs on the investigation too.
