Who would go to great lengths to get Estevez's body?

Sure, you could do worse. But Emilio Estevez?! He looks like a frog.

also he was a race car driver so his body was at peak physical condition, in theory.

Not only did the rich guys from the future want healthy young male bodies, they wanted the body of a guy who was about to die anyway, so the disappearance of his body to the future would have no or a minimal impact on history. Furlong was snatched from his car a second before he would have been killed in a auto racing crash. (P.S. In the famous Ray Bradbury story "A Sound of Thunder," the hunters used the same precaution. They only shot dinosaurs that were going to die a couple of minutes later; the protagonist of the story screwed up history by stepping off a "pathway" and squashing a butterfly.)

He wanted Emilio's body because he was in love with Russo, and thought that by getting her former lover's body he'd be able to convince her to love him too. Pretty twisted idea on old Hopkins' part, but makes sense in a way.

Right. Well, I have to - I have to go now, Duane, because I, I'm due back on the planet Earth.
