James Brown shouting sound effects
I thought i was just hearing things but I hear like during explosions or when something dramatic happens, they use James Brown's "WOW!" shout. anyone notice this?

shareUpon watching Freejack last night and noticing the same Brown, I went back for a second look and searched IMDB to make sure I wasn't off my rocker. Low and behold, it wasn't just bad hearing. I uploaded the clip onto youtube for your viewing pleasure:

I am watching the movie now and just LOLed at this exact scene. I honestly didn't catch that it was J Brown, but it was still hysterical that a guy would scream like that as he jumped out of the way.
shareWow, that sticks out. I kinda regret finding out about the Wilhelm Scream, too, as it takes me out of the movie every time.
Some guy is on Pawn Stars selling a Freejack taxi.
Haven't seen the movie.
dude, i was also one who noticed this, but there's something else: in Young Guns II, the same sound effect is used on a similar scene, where a charriot on fire rushes towards the camera... same actor (Emilio Estevez) and director (Geoff Murphy) in both movies...
definetly more than a coincidence...

I hated those James Brown samples when I first saw this movie in the 90's and I still hate them now. The Wilhelm and other stock screams are bad enough. Every time I hear one of these it pulls me right out of the movie. Those sounds are a nice in-joke in a comedy but c'mon, in a movie that takes itself at least semi-seriously? Phfft.
sharehaha defo noticed it and started thinking it could be a new wilhelm scream!
shareThat James Brown "WOW" is all over the place. I just started to watch and at 29:16 where Emilio and Buster are drinking. Then at 36:16 where the poster of Einstein gets hit. I think there is a drinking game here. Every time there's that "WOW" effect drink.
shareWell, Jagger (with the Stones) did play on the same bill as James Brown in '64 at the T.A.M.I. Show. While the Stones were good, Keith Richards himself has stated that James blew them off the stage and that following him was the biggest mistake in the Stones' career. I think Dirty Work (or at least the album cover) probably wins that honor, but there's no doubt James killed it during that performance.
