Unfairly always compared with the Chucky saga
This movie is great.
Many doll centered movies that came later and with more budget resources didn't achieve the singular charm of this movie.
The acting is bad? yes, and the worst element of the movie is the musical score and instrumentation.
But, overall, I think that some fans of 80s-90s horror movies could enjoy this flick for the story and because its cheesy in a good way.
So my advice would be, don't let you guide by the hate and unfair comparisons and give it a chance
