most underrated

I have to say that in my opinion that Diggstown has to be one of the most underrated movies ever.
I think I was one of the dozen people who actually saw this movie in the movie theater. I can remember that it was me and maybe 3 other people and I think it only played for a week or two. Apparently they heard heard of advertising. When this movie came out on video I recommened it to everyone I knew and I have yet to have someone come back to me and say they didn't like it.
Great boxing movie, great con movie and a great twist at the end when twists at the end of movies wasn't done in every movie.
Remember: "never con a con-man, especially when he's better than you."

I have to agree, this movie definately never got the credit it deserved. I recall when it was released a lot of critics gave it lackluster ratings, and its run at the theaters was short. However everyone who I know who has ever seen the movie said it is suprisingly good, and that encompasses an eclectic audience. I own the DVD and give it a good watch every now and again.

i also agree, this is a great movie...not sure why its not more popular

I agree with you guys. Great under-rated movie. Laughs and suspence! Goes in my classic shelf of movies, along with Planes, Trains & Automobiles, The Great Outdoors, Throw Mamma From the Train, and the like.

have to agree saw this film many years ago.
up until the end it was a good film.
but the ending made it a great film.

Anytime I come across a thread about underrated movies or movies you love that almost no one knows, I bring up Diggstown. I saw this movie in the theater with my father and we both loved it. It's rare to find anyone who's seen it though. The marketing for it or lack thereof was horrid.

I saw this at the flix too, here in the Uk with a bunch of friends and it must have been only shown cos of James Woods name. The lads thought it was good, I loved it. I thought the soundtrack was excellent an every once in a while after a few beers on it goes on video (I must get the dvd sometime).

The only thing that could grumble about is that Hammerhead Hagan is sooooo huge when in the ring with Roy that I just can't believe he would get beat, even after a few crates of ale. But then Heather Grahams legs are in it so all is forgiven.

I saw Diggstown because we got sneak preview passes to it. Despite watching it for free, I'd have paid money anyway to see the film.

See you at the party Richter!

I agree. Ironically, reading the case, I didn't think I'd like this, as I'm not big into boxing, etc. It immediately became one of my favorite movies.
It's taken me 10 years of coaxing, but I finally got my husband to watch it today (he always thought the title was stupid and wouldn't give it a chance!) He enjoyed it thoroughly, of course. I'm glad I persisted!
Now I'm going to see if I can get our local library to order a copy for the system--more people should see this movie!
