How did a great movie like this get 50% on the Tomatometer, and take a dive in its theatrical run?
This movie had a great script, great acting by great actors, and a knock out ending! If you're trying to decide whether or not to see it, please do. Gosset Jr at his best, and Woods and Dern doing fine jobs as well.

It's called a BRAIN. ~USE IT!
Rotten Tomatoes is chock full of film snobs. Its a decent judge of art flicks. Doesn't do so well when it comes to movies that aren't crawling up their own cracks.
Good flick. the boxing movie Gladiator was decent too, though in a different vein.
MGM didn't advertise it well. Also, Variety felt many filmgoers thought the title was a turnoff.
