Lamest Ad Campaign Ever?

God d*mn this movie's stupid lame campaign.

I remember seeing VHS copies of "Deep Cover" always for rent. Looked like some crappy, direct-to-video turd that somehow snagged Laurence Fishburne between real projects.

I don't watch movie review shows anymore, don't read the Times.
The ad campaign is often the only thing I have to tell me a movie exists, let alone whether it's for me. Today's worthless "poster art" tells you nothing -- or worse, completely misleads you.

How about a little hint that . . . this is a good movie?

I am not psychic. If you've got a little independently-made, well-written gem, you gotta tell me. Why not at least mention Michael Tolkin -- author of "The Player" and "The Rapture" -- one of the most accomplished screenwriters today?
Market it like trash, it becomes Blockbuster wallpaper.

At least after 17 years of passing it up at Blockbuster I finally saw it on HDNet.
Didn't have to happen.

I actually went to see it (in the theatres) because of who was IN it, but remember what few (VERY few) ads there were out there for it being decent overall.

I just think it suffered from an overall lack of ads out there - the film deserved a bigger push if you ask me...

Wait a minute... who am I here?
