Captain Ron Rules!
I love this movie. Captain Ron is such a great character.
Are there any other movies like it out there? Something with all the hilarious one liners and such?

Ted's!
Go rent Nate and Hayes, from 1983, but still a fun pirate flick. If you like Capt Ron you should like this one. Look it up on IMDB.
BUT...CAPT RON is the BEST!
Try some other Kurt Russell movies.
share"Summer Rental" with the late John Candy features an old yacht that gets fixed up for a race. I think both films have a similar "feel".

Lol. I love this movie and it's good to see that other people love it just as much. ^_^ "If anything's gonna happen, it'll happen out there."
"You gotta learn to laugh, it's the way to true love."
Two of my personal top 50 flicks!
(see sig line for proof ;)

"Your wife's on my Wham-O"
Yeah, this was a fun movie to watch more than once!
I guess I am just a dreamer after all
I love the movie as well.
I kept hoping there would be a sequel. Maybe there in the Carib, or maybe off to the South Pacific. Maybe with something out of Terry and The Pirates.
Oh well.
I think it would still be pretty cool.
One of my top ten movies.

neither liberty or safety
I think "Overboard" is my fave Kurt Russell film. Great family film.

I believe that if people are saying this 20+ years later it proves there is a cult following.
If you look at this listing, in which Captain Ron is (currently) ranked(?) 54th favorite for the year 1992, there are other well remembered and quality movies. But how many of them still have a following who like to re-watch them? Take, for example, Scent of a Woman, which critics and movie experts will say is a better movie than CR. But do any of those people plan to watch SoaW ever again? And maybe they will not watch CR again, but its fans will, which is something that distinguishes cult favorites from the "Great Movies", like Gandhi, My Left Foot, etc., which get perpetual lip-service, but who really wants to ever see them again.
Below are all the movies (according to IMDb) of 1992. You must click the "show more" link at the page bottom:

I like both movies.
“There are no ordinary moments. There is always something going on.” – Peaceful Warrior
Big Trouble in Little China....Russell in a comedic role. Overboard
And My Blue Heaven with Steve Martin....to me it has the same feel as Captain Ron.
