Question about the ending chase scene
Why were Dracula and the Gypsies in such a hurry to get to the castle before sunset? Isn't he more powerful at night anyway?

Thanks. I see. So it wasn't so much the darkness after sunset the Gypsies were afraid of. They were just trying to get Dracula home ASAP and I guess the sunlight helped them navigate better in the snowstorm.
shareI took it as them trying to get to him before the sun completely disappeared, since he then would be at his most powerful. But also him getting inside the castle would make it harder for them as well, since then he could safely hide/protect himself during the next time sunrise. He was basically most vulnerable during the daylight and outside his protected and carefully planned hideouts. On the road he was making himself most at risk, which is why he had those gypsies (?) following his casket and trying to outmaneuver Harker and Van Helsings group on his journey. This was the fastest, most secure way of overthrowing him.
shareThe dirt of the castle gave him his powers that's why he took it to London with him. Plus his powers a weak while the sun is up so being in his castle at night would give him the best advantage.
