Problem with the vampire theme

I think I figured out a problem with the whole vampire-theme, in this movie and in other Dracula-movies at well.

Why should a vampire be interested in making another vampires? More vampires = less humans = less food.

Of course, some of them want company, I understand that, but many vampires want to have the earth full of vampires - but that´s a big problem, because they have to share.

You're wrong.

Loneliness. Eternal life can get pretty lonely, one would imagine.

Sure, if you intend to make exponentially more vampires. That isn't the case here, nor in most vampire stories. Here, Dracula wants companionship. Humans still vastly outnumber vampires.

This seems pretty contradictory to your original statement. You just admitted that some would do it for company, as Dracula does in this film. But in your first sentence you suggested the "exponential explosion of vampire population" was a problem for this movie.

And no, MOST vampires do NOT want the Earth full of vampires. Not sure where you get that idea unless your experience with vampire fiction is extremely limited.

This question may be valid in OTHER vampire movies, but here, if you think about it, he only makes Lucy into a vampire out of rage/spite, and Mina into a vampire because she's his lover obviously (and he's even hesitant about that). Otherwise vampires in this movie are only portayed as infecting others by possible "accident"/emotion. The wives didnt MAKE Jonathan drink their blood, he just may have out of circumstance.
