Forgot about one thing

It seems in all the hoopla about doing real visual effects, Coppola forgot two important things. You need a good script, and you need to hire actors who can act. Reeves and Ryder are 2 of the worst on the planet, and Oldman and Hopkins aren't much better. Their performances might have worked on stage but they are horribly overblown on film.

If Oldman and Hopkins aren't very good actors can I ask you who is good in your rather jaded opinions?

"Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop."

Oldman is usually good but his accent is weird in this and I honestly feel he's given far, far better performances elsewhere, like in TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY.

Hopkins is an irregular actor...sometimes he really pulls it out and puts together a masterful performance, and other times he just seems to be doing the loony thing that he can do in his sleep. In some movies I've seen, he just seems to be on automatic pilot. I'm not going to say he's a BAD actor....just sometimes a lazy one. His performance in this was not his best.

Hopkins is wildly overrated, generally speaking, but Oldman is magnificent. He's nearly always the best thing in any film.

Any actor who can make Dracula a sexy beast, given that hideous make up, clearly knows what he's doing!
