Did you know any 'BeBe kids' ?

I did. I grew up with a kid who had behavior problems. He lived with an alcoholic mother and a step father. Some nights he would be over my house and he would stay late and he would leave but come back to my house because no one was at his house. I remember one Christmas he came over my house because he didn't have anything at his. We both grew up without our fathers. My aunt took care of me. For a long time it was just me and her. My childhood was hard and lonely but his was worse in my opinion. It wasnt until we got a little bit older where he started to get into trouble. The difference between me and him was I knew right from wrong and knew I had rules to follow. He never followed the rules because he didnt have to. I am 24 now and he is the same age and to this day some of the old him is still present. He turned out better than he could have, but he isnt great either. Hes about to get off probation. I remember one time we got pulled over and when the cop got back to the car she looked at me and was like "Your record is fine, it was his (pointing at my friend) that took so long." Well she let us go without a ticket or anything but still. Some of the people he associates with are the same type of people his mother associated with. I can understand why because when you're a child you become a product of the things you grew up around. We have known eachother since we were 6 and no matter who he has over his house he always treats me with the most respect. But as children though he did get into a lot of trouble. It progressed as a preteen- young teen. Some of the stuff he dragged me into but depending on what it was he knew I would sometimes back out. One thing he still brings up this day is when we were about 13-14 when he was smoking weed and I left and wouldnt touch it and left. He still talks about that because he knew I was a good kid. He tells me how he wishes he grew up with my family even though I dont really have one. I'm glad we grew up in the 90's because now the way the economy is here my neighborhood has turned out so so bad right now. Its become such a rough place. Had we been children growing up here right now he would have turned out a wholeeee lot worse than he is now. So in closing, this movie really reminds me of my childhood. If I could relate to any character in this movie it would have to be Leon because he is the best mannered and my friend would have to be kahlil.
