I thought he was good for the role, I like this movie today for everything but the sex scenes but when I was young when it came out that's why I wanted to see it lol. If you look at the list of actors who were offered the role but turned it down it tells a lot:

Al Pacino, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Robert De Niro, Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Christopher Lloyd, Jack Nicholson, Charlie Sheen, Richard Gere, John Travolta, Nicolas Cage, Denzel Washington, and Kevin Costner.

And then there's Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Ray Liotta and Patrick Swayze who all auditioned for the role.

The list is huge for all the actresses who were considered for Catherine.

If you’re making an erotic thriller in 90’s Hollywood, you’ve got Douglas on speed dial (and maybe James Spader). I thought he nailed the role.

Nah, Douglas is perfect as the weaselly husband who cheats on his wife and pays dearly for it. He played the same character in "Fatal Attraction" basically.

And please, who watches this movie for the sex scenes? He's not an attractive character to begin with. I don't wanna watch that creep have sex. The sex is in there for story development.

Michael Douglass is gross, he walks away naked from Sharon Stone's bed, his ugly fat wrinkly bottom just gross. Even Keanu Reeves would have been better.
