In the animated universe, his father is still alive and is named Cassim, but Aladdin's mother is dead. We aren't told how she died.

Funnily enough his mother was originally going to be a character in the movie. There was even supposed to be a song by Aladdin talking about how he wishes he could make his mom proud of him. But that premise was cut due to budget cuts. Makes you wonder how the movie would be if Aladdin had a mother in it who was a central character. It'd be a different movie.
