How was Aladdin chosen for the Cave of Wonders

Did it was say how he was chosen specifically

He was chosen because he was the diamond in the rough "whose worth lies far within". It cannot say it explained how, but we know as viewers that despite that he is a thief, Aladdin has a heart of gold when he gave his share of bread to those hungry kids and prevented those same children from being whipped by Prince Achmed.

Yes, it did say how he was chosen specifically. Remember when the Cave of Wonders said only "a diamond in the rough" was allowed to enter and Jafar then used the Sultan's ring to find out who that was?
