What kind of snake was that, can it really kill people this fast?

Bothrops insularis or the golden lancehead. It's a type of pit viper, basically.

And yes; it can be deadly. Even deadlier if you get bit in the neck.

NO snake kills that fast.

No, it can't kill that fast. Snake bite venom travel through the lymphatic system, which is a lot slower moving than the circulatory system (blood). Essentially, it was dramatic licence.

Thanks for the answers.
Another thing I was wondering, why did the snake attack him in the first place?
They were pretty far away from the tree and the snake jumps all the way for no reason.
