I want Sightings on DVD!
I also want Sightings on DVD. I used to love this show and now, we can't even watch reruns on Sci Fi (because they took it off). I would prefer the show to be released on DVD by season, as each show was originally presented. But that's not likely to happen, given the way the recent Unsolved Mysteries DVDs were released (by topic: UFOs, Ghosts, etc.). Still, I would buy Sightings that way, too.
I've tried to find a website for the show and the production companies, but can't find anything official (except for Paramount Studios, of course). I sent a letter to Paramount asking them to put the show on DVD (no reply, of course). I urge all of you to do the same. It might work. I did find two different addresses for Fair Dinkum Productions, but I don't know which one is current. Why don't these other companies have websites and e-mail addresses?
I also found this fan website on the show. It's at: www.glowingdial.com/sightings_home.htm
There are also episode guides at this website and TV Tome. (IMDB is more accurate.) Original airdates and episode content are listed on both.
I wish that Sightings would come back on the air with new episodes, but I know that won't happen. And if Sci Fi Channel won't continue airing the reruns, then DVDs are the only way we'll see it anymore (unless you've taped them). I never even got to see the fifth season, because I didn't get the Sci Fi Channel on my cablevision at the time! Yeah, I know that all or most of the information presented on the show is now old or dated, but I loved the show so much I would like to see it again anyway. The other recent "copycat" shows that Sci Fi has aired just don't cut it. And the "Unexplained Mysteries" syndicated show was presented in a style/format that I didn't like. A large part of that series was edited from actual Sightings episodes, for those who don't know. But that whispery announcer sucked! Anyway, that show is now in reruns only.
Go and vote for Sightings on www.tvshowsondvd.com . Every vote might help.
