While Richard C Okie is a terrific writer, I believe that Renegade's finale should have been written by Stephen J Cannell himself.
I felt the way the series ended is cheap — employing some ghost deus ex machina. If Hound Adams would have resurfaced and he instead of Donnie had a change of heart, deciding to take Dutch down and help Reno, then the ending could have been much, much better and satisfying.
My understanding is the cancellation of the series caught everyone off guard so the finale was put together sort of at the last second, so they didn't have time to truly prepare to end the series. They were expecting a sixth season.

shareTotally agree! Was there ever a renegade movie?! I am confused on it because most crazy TV shows from the 90s had a movie along with them and I thought that renegade had one to close out the series?! Am I crazy?
shareNo there was never a movie made unfortunately. There were rumours for several years of a movie being made, but those rumours seemed to fade away even before the sad death of Stephen J. Cannell in 2010.
shareI thought I recalled seeing something written about a possible TV remake of this show. Why not? I've heard worse ideas before.
