His alias. Why didnt he change it?

I mean its not like nobody caught him using it. Just put into you computer that Vince Black is AKA Reno Raines. Would have saved the cops alot of trouble. I just figured after a few years, someone would put 2 and 2 together.

How come nobody figured out to keep an eye on Sixkiller, since they know they work cases together?

I like guns, slasher movies, and more guns.

Or to keep an eye out for a very distinctive motorcycle riden by a guy with very distinctive hair and clothing... :D

I know right?

He looked EXACTLY like his mug shot. Didnt even try to chance his looks. Try a haircut, shave and wear some glasses or something.

And another thing, How come nobody figured out that Dixon was living in a mansion on a cops salary?

Dont get me wrong, I love the show and bought the series on dvd.

In Season 3, Episode 13 (Rancho Escondido) Reno goes to Mexico and meets a plastic surgeon who shows him computerised images of what he would look like with plastic surgery and short hair. Reno strongly considers it, but changes his mind, I think because he doesn't want to lose his identity.

Can't explain the Dixon living in a Mansion deal, but he was more than just a cop, he was a high ranking detective wasn't he?

Yeah, but he wore expensive suits, watches, and was a member of the Country Club. No way a Police Captain could afford all of that. In fact, those are the kind of things Internal Affairs look for in dirty cops, - Living outside of their means.

Reno could have at lease gotten a haircut.

It's like you don't understand the show at all.

I don't think they ever went that much into Dutchs' back-story but I always though of Dutch coming from a rich family or legally independently wealthy and just wanted more money.

It was mentioned that Dixon bought the mansion with his wife's life insurance.

We used to make sh-t in this country. Build sh-t. Now we put our hands in the next guys pocket.

And last time I checked, it's not against the law for a police officer to have personal assets apart from his salary.

You better check again because this is a plot hole

in universe it's a little harder to explain but from out here simple consistency: he's Reno/Vince... adding more aliases gets complicated (and wastes creative efforts) if they change it every episode it gets out of hand, if he changes it because of a near capture then you run into issues of episodes airing out of order...

in the big picture, save for 'plot points' like interaction with Dutch, Hound or Dixon Jr. you could watch any episode of each season in any particular order

-- How often does Reno help a local LEO, and they delete any data they entered into the computer... plus much of the series was Pre-Internet (or at least it's infancy) so cross reference between agencies was minimal without an Active physical search

as to 'watching Bobby' that comes down to how much Dutch shares with the rest of legitimate Law Enforcement and how much he wants to risk them shadowing Bobby on searches into Dutch

-- an honest cop sees Bobby doing research on Dutch, figuring he can Protect Dutch by telling him what Bobby has found looks into what Bobby was looking at.. and now Dutch has an Honest Cop on the opposing side

some one asked also about Dutch's Money, and I seem to recall his Wife was Rich before they got married... and it was mis-using her money that saw him refill the coffers via illegal activity... so from the outside it all looks like her Money

reply

a Lot of it was that Dutch needed to keep it off the radar... He was more than happy to take advantage of Coincidental Arrests... but the more information he puts in the system and the more help he seeks from Legitimate Cops the greater Risk he runs of some one spotting a 'loose thread' and unraveling his under the table antics

most of the small town Cops who stumble on Reno are either crooked and taken down, or Good and willing to turn a blind eye because he helped out.

as to Watching Bobby, as far as 'the system' knows Bobby is Clean, Dutch has no Probable Cause for approved surveillance, and unapproved surveillance gives Bobby the option of charging him with harassment... which Dutch doesn't want or he's back on the Radar

someone else in the Thread asked about Dutch Living beyond his means and how it should be an IA Red Flag...

- Wasn't Dutch IA?... I could have swore his official story is that Reno was dirty and shot the Undercover IA guy who was investigating him
(who watches the watchmen?)

and I thought from some of the "Dutch Junior" episodes it was established that at least some of the Money was because Dutch's wife was rich.
