Did David Duchovny do X-Files and Red Shoe Diaries at the same time?

Red Shoe Diaries is 1992-1999. The X-Files is 1993-2002.

So did he do both series concurrently. I would have thought given the incredible success of X-Files he would have been able to quit Red Shoes. Has he ever talked about why he didn't leave it?

Considering he was basically just the narrator on Red Shoes and the work was minimal (maybe 2-5 minutes per episode) he could probably fit both into the schedule easily. I'm sure the extra pay check didn't hurt either.
