Applesauce!
shareI prefer George Costanza overall, but he never got the chance to say "My life is sh*t".
shareHow about Hank Kingsley vs. George Costanza vs. David Brent?
There's something comedically wonderful about watching fat losers, fueled on rage, ego and stupidity.
For me, [although they're all very close]
1. Costanza
2. Kingsley
3. Brent
George, George, George. Every time. I love George 'cant stand ya!' ha ha ha.
Besides, the DVD box set has made me totally weary of Hank saying 'does that say apple sauce? no it says applause' at the beginning of every bloody episode.
That does not sway my opinion though, George is a total scream. :)
Kingsley, hands down.
shareHank Kingsley is kinda like George when he goes home, draws the curtains, reaches for the bourbon and a pack of smokes. Apart from that they're very different.

Hank, no question.

Wait a minute... who am I here?
It's funny... right after I saw this thread and posted in it, my Complete Series DVD set arrived and the FIRST episode I watched was one that had Jason Alexander appearing on the Sanders show, with Hank rushing up to him to apologize for referring to him over and over again as 'Kramer' during the show.
Hank's explanation was that he often gets the actor's names confused with their character's names.

I say George because Hank is so unlikable most of the time. I mean, he's funny but he's such a prick. George Costanza is more of an everyman.
Open the door for Mr. Muckle!!

I don't find Hank nearly as much of a prick as George. Costanza consistently goes out of his way to try to hurt people for petty slights against him. He's a borderline sociopath. Hank is just depressingly insecure.
Anton Chigurh is dead and Spider-Man 3 is superior in every way to Funny Games.
George, but he is the best character out of both shows. Larry, Artie, and Hank would all tie as a close second.
shareI don't like to have to choose. I will say however that if either had left, Hank Kingsley would probably have been the character whose absence would've most hurt his series. I felt he was far and away the most interesting character on "The Larry Sanders Show" and it seemed to me like the writers probably agreed. Having said that, I do think both Jason Alexander and Jeffrey Tambor as well as John Goodman are the three actors of that period who's work most deserved emmy statuettes, and yet none of them was ever recognized with one.
