Enjoyed this. Sentimental and a nice reunion piece.

I like to watch movies when using the treadmill. Do not know if I would do it otherwise.

They are so alike, both in looks and delivery. Shandling always seems the more circumspect and sober; Seinfeld more glib and practiced.

I made comment here that of the two great shows they created and starred in, that Shandling had more of a satirical edge than Seinfeld, and certainly The Larry Sanders Show had a strong dramatic aspect that Seinfeld never ventured into. Sanders was close to the bone. That probably was down to being an HBO show with harder language and adult themes. Although given an HBO production I don't think Seinfeld would have gone as deep as Shandling did; he simply didn't have the pathos.

It's no accident that Ricky Gervais credited Shandling's show as an inspiration for The Office. Although Ricky's interview with his idol didn't go too well:

It was very touching.

On the Sony dvd release of Larry Sanders, Garry did interviews with a bunch of former guests. The one with Jerry was the best, a very funny walk and talk in Central park in NYC. I always thought Seinfeld got his idea for Cars/Coffee from that piece.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing the other day after I watched that on YouTube.
