Joe and the Watchers and the show evolution.

So i'm watching the show for the first time in years on a daily basis on H&I broadcast free digital at 1am. They quickly introduce the Watchers and then the rogue asshole Watchers who wanna kill Immortals and shape destiny, and Joe, the numb nut true believer caught in the middle. Great stuff. But the show is still finding its ground and all. Then we bounce back and forth from Paris to the US dojo and what not. Whatever. But what is it, season two or three where suddenly Joe is like, "I'm gonna open a blues tavern now". lmao. What?? Sure. Obviously a tv show trying to be hip and current, but the continuity is questionable. So "in story" just what in the hell is Joe doing now? He's lost his noodle. He's abandoned his calling and he's all-in on Duncan. He's abandoned amenity and he's backing a player in the tournament and giving him direct information, exactly the people he used to war against in the order. Darius was terribly murdered, the holy warrior of the good side of the fence, and with his death crumbles all tradition? I'll buy that even it wasn't very well spelled out. Is it possible that mortals are drawn into the Gathering as well? By proxy?
