Did anyone like Maurice ?

I didn't. I wanted to punt him into the Seine . I hate when serious series puts a "comedic relief" character as part of the regular cast .

Maurice was ok. he served in being the regular that was in the dark about immortals. it was nice to still have that kind of character around. especially with Charlie's departure when Season Two moved to Paris.

you needed to have vulnerable mortal characters so that MacLeod had someone to worry about.

he was the lightheartedness in episodes that would otherwise be very dark. no different than when they did the regular comedy episodes with Amanda or Fitz.

yeah, but he was a good "comedic relief" character. And, I guess the reason he worked for me, is that he was not overused. Obviously he was only in the Paris shows, and he was not in many of them. I liked the way, he could pull off what Duncan told him to do, like getting the barge back. I also liked the odd occasion when we saw Maurice in a serious light, like in the episode "Reasonable Doubt," involving his niece, Simone.

He's still there in that fantasy Highlander world, although Michel Modo, the actor who played him died a few years ago.

But, as for Maurice, the last episode they showed him in was Modern Prometheus. He was only in it briefly, but he was still alive and kicking.

MICHEL MODOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Two things Maurice knows: Foot and luff.

I can sympathize with the OP's position about putting comedic relief into a serious series.. or rather I dislike comedy being written into a script to cover up bad writing and a weak story.

However, I found Maurice amusing and charming.

I liked him. There wasn't too much, just enough for a bit of humor. If he were in every episode or if his character became more prominent then I'm not sure if I would have liked him as much.

payback's a bitch. thanks for inviting me to do it

reply

Yeah he was rather annoying.
