I haven't watched this show in years, and all I saw was a few dozen episodes in syndication. Recently started binge watching it on youtube. I read that the last season nearly ruined the show. Is this true? At what point should one stop watching and be satisfied that it is for the best?

No don't skip season six, but depending on how big a fan you are of the show, you might want to view it selectively -- in other words don't miss Indiscretions, Unusual Suspects and the series finale, To Be and Not to Be. I would definitely skip Two of Hearts.

I also liked Black Tower and Diplomatic Immunity. Besides those, Indiscretions, the Usual Suspects and the finale the rest of the season was pretty bad.

shareIt just shows onscreen that Adrian Paul did not want to do another season he looked bored with the role and was just collecting a check. There were a few good episodes. They should have ended the series with season five.

You should watch the first 2 episodes ( Avatar and Armageddon ), considering they both close the Archangel saga started during Season 5 finale. Then you should watch Black Tower ( he finally kills another immortal again), Sins of the Father, Diplomatic Immunity, Indiscretions ( actually the last filmed episode. ) and To be and Not To Be.
Basically you get to skip almost half of this season, lol. At least it's a short season.
You ought two see the final two episodes of season six (aka two-parter finale) if you've seen the other seasons, since it's the show's take on It's a Wonderful Life. It's really fun (if over the top) if you've seen the previous seasons and know the characters well. And no, the finale does not conclude the series, just the season.
