Why were the episodes out of order on the original air date?

It makes no sense.

This happens with a fair few shows.

Animation ones it was very common I expect its down to how they broadcast wanting say the multi parts ones together for say a saturday morning for example

It is the broadcast airdate, but I wonder why they aired it that way. We shouldn't gave to wait multiple episodes for part 2 of a 2 episode story arc.

Prolly best to online search the show title + "proper watch order list". You'll prolly find a Wiki link or other sites with the list, for better viewing.

Fox Network slaughtered 'SLIDERS' episode orders, but a Wiki page helped me out.

I've seen varying orders. I have the show downloaded and just kept them in order of the airdate.

I did the same but got annoyed enough to just end up re-ordering the episode lists into proper order. But as you said that we shouldn't have to be waiting for the continuation of an arch -- after a given number of episodes -- or let alone reorganize the episode list... and I agree.

To be fair continuity was never all that great after the first season. It's implied Joker died at the end of laughing fish yet he appears in The strange secret of Bruce Wayne without any explanation of how he survived. Two Face had been put in Arkham in season 1 and without explanation of how he esaped he's just there too in the same episode. Riddler seems to have been lobotomized by his virtual reality device at the end of the episode what is reality and yet there he is in an episode of season 3 with no explanation how he got out of his condition. I don't hate this show but they didn't keep continuity very well at times.

And Robin appears out of nowhere. There's no real origin Batman story. They expect us to know they lore beforehand.

To be fair Tim Burton's first Batman movie did the same thing. In some ways maybe Burton and others just wanted people to use their own imagination. Although the episode with the ninjas seems to imply he did go overseas at some point to train in combat to be Batman.

Dick Grayson gets his origin in the BTAS season one two-parter Robin's Reckoning, and Tim Drake gets his in the TNBA episode Sins of the Father.

I know, but he just pops up the first time we see him.

True, both origins are given to us after the characters have already been introduced.
