Article comparing the series BTAS and 'The Batman'

The Batman did NOTHING better than The Animated Series. I can't believe that godawful show even has fans.

This is kinda the problem when it comes to having different variations of characters. People have such a high standard of one version and put that particular version on a pedestal and pretty much expect all other shows of the same genre to imitate it rather than do their own thing. Nothing gets a chance to be better or even possible for them to enjoy. I grew up with Batman TAS and to this day I find it to be one of the best superhero cartoons ever, but I was able to enjoy The Batman for doing something different. One thing I give it credit for is having Hugo Strange as a recurring villain whereas he only made one appearance in TAS. Unless you read comics at the time, you probably ended up thinking that Strange was a character that the writer's made up for the show and dropped afterwards.

This also happens with the Spider-man cartoons. Both Spider-man TAS and Spectacular Spider-man are the two most well received ones. But the hardcore and militant fans of the former tend to bash the latter mostly because of it's art style(having not actually watched the show). And if somebody does happen to have a criticism about Spectacular that isn't about it's art style, they usually just try to compare everything to Spider-man TAS instead of judging the show on it's own merits.

I love Batman The Animated series but I never really liked The Batman.
