Why Hollywood won't make another Terminator movie

It's hard to believe its been more than 30 years since James Cameron made The Terminator, but several movies down the line, the franchise has started to lose its steam. The reasons for this are complex, ranging from questions about creative approach to the performance (or lack thereof) when it comes to the sequels. Cameron told an amazing story across Terminator and Terminator II: Judgment Day, but not all franchises are meant to run for five (and counting) different movies.

Let's dig in to how Terminator got off track, and what Hollywood might be able to do to get it back on.

I'm sure they will make another someday. James Cameron gets the rights back in 2019, so it depends on him. I doubt it will be a sequel to GENISYS. Despite his praise, that film was just too much of a mess. I would have liked sequels to SALVATION, but I'm one of few who thought there was promise in a trilogy about the actual war as opposed to resorting to time travel story lines. I get it, if the formula's not broken, don't fix it. Even though after GENISYS it clearly is broken.

Cameron or no Cameron, another Terminator film is an absolute certainty within a maximum of, say, 20 years, and its pretty likely we'll get another much earlier than that. Cameron will either do another himself (highly unlikely), hand over to someone else with his backing (most likely), or it'll happen if the worst should happen (cameron dies).

Why they won't is because Schwarzenegger's too old to be a passable terminator anymore and Terminator without him isn't Terminator.

Thats like saying Star Wars isnt Star Wars without Han Solo, Star Trek isnt Star Trek without Kirk!

I guarantee that "done right" the Terminator can live long and well without Arnie.

because Schwarzenegger's too old

they can just go the Genesys route now and have CG Schwarzeneggers. (now you're thinking that will never happen, but people cant' copyright their own face)

It lost steam because they wanted too keep telling the same story over and over. What they needed too do was show the future where Reece came from in one movie instead of adding characters or trying too show the lead up to it. After the bombs fell get to it and 32nd it with a terminator sent back so it's one big loop.
