The T-1000 dying reminds me of that scene in Ed Wood
Where Ed Wood is telling Bela Lugosi to splash the water around with his arms to mimic fighting & struggling with the giant octopus since they have no $ for special effects in their film.
The T-1000/Robert Patrick does the same thing while "dying" in T2
