This is one confused movie

It's a woman's comedy with male oriented punchlines, how did anyone think this would work? The humor is crude slapstick throughout most of the film, but the theme is aimed directly at women. It's also a very shallow film which stereotypes men and somehow the "good" guy in the movie is a freaking rapist.

Ellen Barkin did a good job, she is genuinely funny, but damn is this movie confused about who its audience is while relentlessly beating you over the head with its politically correct message. The ending was interesting and could have been touching if it didn't feel so contrived.

Oh and the lesbian scenes were clearly aimed at the male audience as it did nothing to further develop the main character. This movie itself is actually pretty condescending and sexist now that I think about it.

So I finally saw it and it really did end up as lame as the trailers looked when I was a kid.
