So why was rene auberjonois cut off the movie?

I mean the klingon falls down , smashes his head on the floor , you see human blood under his skull and you ask why?????????????????

Name me one other movie or episode where we see pink Klingon blood?

"Oh no...they sent the wrong Spock!"

reply

other episodes don't count , IN THIS MOVIE (absurdely)they stated it was pink and it had to be pink from the begining to the end...........

Who knew that Klingons kept bottles of Pepto Bismal in their uniform pockets?

"Oh no...they sent the wrong Spock!"

The first time I saw The Undiscovered Country, when it was new, on reaching the body of the fallen Klingon sniper, someone (can't remember if it was McCoy or not) remarks, "This isn't Klingon blood!" Then the mask is pulled away revealing Col. West as the attempted assassin. Why this was cut can only have something to do with cutting his "clean their chronometers" scene as well. This is another movie I'll have to watch someday in the director's cut. The version shown on cable is missing these scenes. But still, does anyone in the know, know why?

From what I heard his scenes were cut because the studio guys felt that his character was just something that slowed the plot down and didn't help advance it. When Auberjonois was cast on DS9 (a few months later) they added his scenes back into the video as a promo for the new series.

I disagree. Colonel West proposes an incursion deep into Klingon space to pull off a black-ops rescue. And in direct parallel, Chang proposes to Azetbour that the Klingons attack the Federation. Removing those scenes leaves us with an incomplete, therefore faulty, parallelism.

Besides, Colonel West is just the kind of minor villain you need for this kind of conspiracy.

By the way: oddly enough it was Colonel Worf, the counsel for the defense at the trial of Kirk and McCoy, who realized the fallen would-be assassin was bleeding red, not pink.

That is not really true. Gene Roddenberry objected to the military light they were showing Starfleet. He did not like the military rescue plot, nor did he like Starfleet officers being shown as conspirators. These things were cut to make Gene happy. He soon passed away, and Nick Meyer had these elements reinserted, as he never really wanted to lose them to begin with.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.

And Colonel West would've gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for those meddling kids!
