I remember a joke that operated on two levels in Demolition Man. Sylvester Stallone, as a policeman is frozen in 1993 but reactivated to catch a criminal in 2032.
He is being driven in an electric car in 2032 by Sandra Bullock and sees a statue which they do not show on camera. He asks "is that who I think it is?" She says "they say he was an actor and later President of the US back in your day. Stallone says "I can't stand it"
In real life Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were big competitors for the same kind of roles in 1993. It wasn't Ronald Reagan's statue who was already out of office by 1993.
I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else
It couldn't have been too much of a dumb line. A few years after, someone wrote an opera called Nixon In China.
