It's awesome that Rickman's further scenes came to light, but the additional footage doesn't make the film stronger. It actually takes away from Robin Hood being the hero of the picture. Also, they're a little off, tonally. The director was going full art house.

The extra stuff with the witch was a little too goofy.

Yep, agreed.
It brings this excellent film down quite a lot.

Extended versions should exist only in rare, needed occasions.
Otherwise the official cut SHOULD BE developed and edited to completion.
